@reddevil

Okay, I've downloaded the files. They'll take me a few days to re-encode, as I have other items in my queue right now.

In the meantime, if I give you links and advice are you willing to try encoding yourself?

@meridian: O Yes please, i was thinking the same thing. I have handbrake 1.2.2 version as well the latest one. Just need the settings and some initial guidance. Just FYI, I have used handbrake before (long ago) for some conversion etc.. with default settings.

@reddevil

Great. Here are the settings I use:
Meridian's TV HandBrake settingsUnzip and import into HandBrake. To import, click the Options icon at the bottom of the Presets pane. Click on the new custom preset to load the settings.

There are a few things I check/tweak, once I load a source file.
Dimensions: If my source is 1080p and I'm downscaling to 720p.
Filters and Video: I rarely change these.
Audio: If the audio is already AAC 2.0 or HE-AAC 2.0 I change the Codec to Auto Passthru. No need to waste time and CPU power, unless you want to ensure the bitrate is 128. (The source bitrate may be higher, but it will add only a few megabytes. To me time is worth more.)
Subtitles: If there are any, the first subtitle track will be shown here. Check its dropdown box to see if there are any others you want to add. If so, click Add Track, then use the new dropdown box to choose which one.
Chapters: So far, I've found only BluRay sources have decent chapter markers. Include/create them as you like.
Save As: Set the new filename. I suggest using a folder different from your source files.

Once you've checked/tweaked all those, you're ready to start your encode.

Try this on Ride Upon the Storm s02e03. See if you like it, and maybe compare it to my re-encode. I can have it uploaded for you in about 10 hours.

Cheers :)

Applied your TV HEVC 8 bit handbrake settings and started to encode 'Ride Upon the Storm s02e03'. Please give me some time, since it's showing more than 7 hours to finish.

All good. Your schedule, not mine.
HandBrake is a CPU hog. I'm lucky enough to have an extra old computer, for HandBrake alone. For those who don't, I recommend closing all other programs when you go to sleep, then start HandBrake and let it run overnight.

@meridian, @reddevil, For last 3 years I was running AMD 8370 cpu with Intel graphics. HEVC encoding ran all 8 'cores' at 100% and temp reached auto-shutdown point. I reset HB to low priority and set BIOS to underclock CPU until I could keep the temp <70°C. I highly recommend you get and use 'coretemp' or HWiNFO64. Both are free and work with most mobos.
I just upgraded to a 4th gen Intel I7 with video encoding built into the cpu AND got a Nvidia 1660 with HEVC encoding built into the GPU. I'm encoding 5 times faster and temps ~60°C. I have yet to overload this box with encoding, downloading, using Teracopy to move files around, watching videos, running MKVtoolNix, SubtitleEdit, Renamer and browsing the sites, all at the same time. I run 4 AV, 3 malware and multiple script blockers on each browser. So far this build is a success.

@meridian: My encode with your settings after running it overnight. Handbrake is definitely a CPU hog and i could barely use my CPU. I have enabled Nvidia NVENC encoder in handbrake. My file is at:
:) And S02E09 ongoing....

@Raada: Thank you for the settings, i will use it as well. Also, thanks for the heads-up on the system temperature coz mine's an old nvidia 650 card and intel core i5 (My CPU fan was running wild yesterday). I will monitor with the sw that u prescribed, coz i have only one good PC.

Am guessing a movie encode in 1080p x265 will take atleast a day then with my system specs?

@reddevil, On my old box a 1080p HEVC movie (~1.5hr) took ~13 hours. Of course your mileage may vary.
Mediafire has DCMA'd your file.
When I was u/l, I'd use 7zip to compress and encrypt with password and give it a random non-descript name (Like book_52789), just something to fool the screeners.

Don't get discouraged, this is a learning experience, and you'll improve.

@Raada
That's some machine. I've built a few in my day, so I know you put in a lot of time and effort. Props!

@reddevil
It sounds like you have a good foundation on re-encoding now :) Unfortunately Mediafire has already flagged your file, so it's no longer available. RMZ has the same problem with their files on Uploaded. They use the full show name and episode number, so it's easily searchable. That's why I code my rar file names. Here's my encode of that episode:

smh. I didn't refresh before posting. Sorry @reddevil. I didn't mean to gang up on you.

The system I'm using for encoding has an AMD A6-7310 with a Radeon R4. Medium CPU with no GPU help on encoding.
A 5 GB 1080p movie takes 16-24 hours. Luckily, there are many people re-encoding movies these days, so I usually don't bother. And even mp4 versions by RARBG are fine for me on older movies.
Here's a number that may be of more help. My logs say my machine took 3 hours and 23 minutes to re-encode RUtS 203

@meridian, I love RARBG 1080p for anything older than 2000, especially the pre '50s movies. Add a touch of noise filtering and wahla, a beautiful encode.
Actually the new box is built from yesteryear parts. Just new enough to do the job but old enough to be cheap!
I'd say you box is on par with my old box from your timings, of course, I never stopped my d/l just because I was encoding. I was AFK over holidays and it kept encoding and d/l over 60 days without glitch. That is good for any Windows box, period.

@Raada and @meridian

Thank you both for the info and guidance, really appreciate it. Is the handbrake version 1.3.1 better than 1.2.2? I will test it for myself but since it will take hours, i just want a quicker answer from the experts. :)

My encodes:

Ride.Upon.The.Storm.S02E03.SUBBED.720p.HDTV.2CH.x265.HEVC-DocMaKS

Ride.Upon.The.Storm.S02e09.SUBBED.720p.HDTV.2CH.x265.HEVC-DocMaKS

Just one more help, if possible, any good sites with free hosts for d/l'ing the sources? I know of scene-rls, rarbg, ... and i also understand if such sites should not be made public here (in case it's taken down or somethin').

@reddevil, I accidently installed 131 when I built my new box. What I noticed is that the constant quality setting has changed. Is that a function of the HB version or my new hardware, I don't know yet. Either way it isn't a deal breaker.
My third source is http://rlsbb.ru (new stuff only) and my fourth is http://crazy4tv.com (HEVCteam)

@reddevil, I just thought of something since you used mediafire instead of CU or similar file service .....................................................
Is the mediafire account your regular account? Don't use any thing that could be traced back to the real you.

Do either of you have Utopia? The UK series from 2013?
IMDb linkI'm starting to re-encode the first season, but I'll save my efforts if either of you has it.

I haven't used version 1.31 yet. I did read the change notes for 1.30, and there are definitely improvements. Version 1.31 is a bug-fix update. I'll update sometime next week and test it. At this point Raada is the only one with experience with it.

I have 12 episodes over 2 season but in avi. If you're doing 720p I'd definitely be interested.
